Oklahoma City Housing Market: A Story of Strength and Stability
Fresh data confirms what SEMCO has long believed: Oklahoma City remains one of the most stable and resilient housing markets in the country.
July 20, 2026
While many news stories highlight the 68 major U.S. housing markets that have experienced price declines, the more significant and often overlooked headline is this: 232 of the nation’s 300 largest metro areas are still seeing home values rise. Oklahoma City is one of them—and its numbers tell a compelling story of durability, not just survival.

The Strong Fundamentals Behind OKC’s Success
Oklahoma City’s resilience isn’t an accident. It rests on four fundamentals that continue to set the metro apart from markets that are cooling off.
Outstanding Affordability
Oklahoma City continues to offer some of the most attainable home prices among major U.S. metros, giving buyers meaningfully more purchasing power than the national average.
A Diverse and Stable Economy
Anchored by Tinker Air Force Base, a growing aerospace sector led by Boeing, energy, and healthcare, OKC’s economy remains diversified. Unemployment has held in a healthy 3.6%–4.0% range.
Careful Growth in Housing Supply
Inventory has risen to a 7-year high, but the increase has been gradual and measured—expanding buyer choice without tipping the market into oversupply.
A Balanced and Normal Market
With homes spending 20 to 58 days on market depending on price tier, OKC reflects a healthy, balanced market rather than the extremes seen in boom-or-bust metros.
“Oklahoma City is not just avoiding decline; it is quietly building long-term success.”
Why This Matters
National headlines tend to favor the dramatic story—the markets that are cooling, correcting, or crashing. But for buyers, sellers, and investors, the more useful story is the one playing out in the majority of metros, including Oklahoma City: steady price growth, healthy inventory, and an economy diverse enough to weather national volatility.
For homeowners, that stability protects the equity they’ve built. For buyers, it means a market that rewards patience and planning rather than panic. And for investors, it signals a metro where fundamentals—not speculation—are driving performance.
Final Thought
Oklahoma City is not just avoiding decline; it is quietly building long-term success. If you are considering a move or investment in 2026, this market deserves a close look.

We had the best experience building our 3400 sq ft home with SEMCO! From picking plans to our final walk through we were greeted with warm, clear and anxiety-reducing communication. My husband literally brought them a house plan on a napkin and they made it come to fruition, WOW!! This is our second time building a custom home with SEMCO and they did not disappoint. Love the family atmosphere and decades of experience they bring to the table. When we were unsure of selections, they knew what would work and look good! Huge relief for someone who knows nothing but wants to pick and do the right things for our home. Beautiful experience! Thank you so much SEMCO!!!+14Posted on Google![]()

Semco did a major repair on a box window, some other trim repair, power washed and painted all the trim on our home. They are great people to work with and did an excellent professional job at a very competitive price.Posted on Google![]()

SEMCO remodeled our home in 2024. The work included a complete kitchen makeover to include a change to a gas range, new cabinets, new island with power, exterior wall repair, removal of an existing interior wall and building a pantry. The work continued into all new exterior doors, removal of popcorn ceilings, retexture and paint, new flooring throughout, widening interior door openings and installing new doors, upgrading the home electrical and custom building new interior stairs. The craftsmanship of their work is superb. The SEMCO folks and their team of craftsmen and designers took our ideas, provided input and alternatives, and helped us turn our home into what we had envisioned after living in the home for 20 years. One year has passed and we wouldn’t wish for anything different and are still extremely pleased with how it turned out. Small suggestions during the construction phase from the team are proving their worth. We had considered moving into a newer home, but really loved our current location, and now have the best of both worlds. Many thanks .+3Posted on Google![]()

I have worked with Debi for a couple of years now. I can honestly say that SEMCO puts their reputation on the line with every home. They go above and beyond to build a quality product, but then take the extra steps to explain the home to the customer. This final step of customer service can not be overlooked. I searched in my home (NOT A SEMCO HOME for a year before finding the water shut off valve. I also had a plumber looking. I finally cut the damn wall out and found it on other side of where it was supposed to be.....bad customer experience. My point is: If the business owner is willing to discuss and develop a plan for your dream home and then close the deal by showing you the final product, then you can just about be assured they are in it to succeed.Posted on Google![]()
